Identity / Packaging
Trim is a film and video editing house. Rather than using obvious images of cutting and film sprockets we wanted to illustrate their work in a more abstract and interesting fashion.
After thinking about the effects of editing... sitting in a darkened room for hours staring at a screen, we decided to develop a visual description of what the editing process does to the eyes. Typographic blocks were created from concentric linear structures that vibrate visually — like the lines of a monitor's screen. The shape of the letterforms were drawn to fit snugly together, suggesting the result of editing separate shots together to make a cohesive sequence. Traditional thermographic raised printing on the linear logo created a tactile ridged finish, when printed on anivory wove paper.
The DVD slip cover and the reverse of the letterheads and compliment slips are also printed with textured fills of concentric linear patterns, creating strange, vibrating, almost topographic three-dimensional landscapes.
