Super Design Market / London Design Festival
Exhibition Graphics / Signage / Sept '07
The second Super Design Market was held in the Royal Festival Hall as part of the London Design Festival. Over 30 product designers were selected by Scarlet Projects to take part in this event where they could sell their work direct to the public. Again we worked alongside exhibition designer Mark Garside to create the graphic elements for the 2 day event. Continuing with the primary colour palette we had used in our original brand identity from the previous year, our main aim was to create an impact and to draw attention to the show which was one of many events taking place within the huge open space within the Royal Festival Hall that weekend. Using the many concrete pillars that support the roof in the space we wrapped and knotted hundreds of meters of fabric to create a canopy above the market that could be seen from anywhere in the space, this acted as a huge signage device without having to overly brand the space and clash with the graphics from neighbouring exhibitions. We extended the fabric like spidery arms out into communal spaces to create a visual pull to the market area. Beneath this canopy, Mark Garside installed a set of oversize black cardboard tubes that acted as plinths for the products to be displayed on and interspersed these with taller tubes that we could use for signage and information graphics. Our main signage was made from coloured upholstery foam cut into oversize letters that were loosely stacked up to create our logo.
We also produced leaflets and badges for each designer and their product.
